Ciao carissima Cinzia

This above is for my friend Cinzia Aishah, also from Rome, who passed away in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 13, forty days ago.

People who are not born and raised in a Holy City might find the dialogue odd, while people who are born and raised in a Holy City will understand it perfectly. The basic attitude of a Holy City's citizen toward religion (whatever religion) is a mix of affection, suspicion and mockery. Also, Romans are very concerned about finding certain foods wherever they happen to travel.

I had beautiful conversations with Cinzia about religion, food and daily life, for more than one year long, until she was too ill to write. I am very grateful to her for this unique relationship. To say that I miss her is an understatement.

Ciao Cinzia, ci vediamo di là (Good bye Cinzia, see you in the Afterlife).

Cinzia Aishah was a member of Sufis Without Borders: SWB's members can still meet her there. She also had a page on Facebook, where you can still visit her. Here is Cinzia on Facebook. Her children are keeping the page alive.
