It Was All that We Had

Melek and Nûr on their new Rainbow Storage Tower.

Among the many enjoyable things we see while strolling in the huge halls of the Salone del Mobile -besides, of course, the great commercial offerings- there are furniture-related quotes. These can cheer us up and give us a deeper thought, or they may call for a smile, and a smile truly helps to forget the fatigue.

We Frogs are very much interested in the psychological aspect of the house, which shows the soul of a person much clearly than her clothes, car or words. The house, like the voice, is almost impossible to mask, so we hope you agree with us when we say that a house has a great symbolical meaning. It is much easier to understand a person once you have seen her dwellings.

A house speaks, and when we are confused or undergoing changes, by looking at our own house, we can get directions.

I Recycle, You Recycle

Melek and Nûr went to Palazzo Isimbardi to try Righe, a new outdoor furniture, and loved it.

We Frogs are old enough to remember times when recycling did not exist, for the simple reason that there was nothing to recycle. Nobody had more than a few objects, all made out of natural materials.

Food was sold in paper bags, and everybody touched it with their hands: vendors and customers alike. There were no electronic devices nor imported cheapo mass produced stuff. A telephone was rooted into a house, it did not walk around with a person. Of course, it was another world.

Water, Fire and Words with a Meaning.

Melek and Nûr at Bikkembergs store, Milan. The store exhibited Teuco's *Seaside* bathtub, designed by Giovanna Talocci.

Yes, we had a really interesting conversation with a staff member of Teuco at the *Salone Bagno* (the International Bathroom Exhibition) about their new technology *Hydroline*. It is always rewarding to meet with people who really know what they are talking about. Unfortunately this is not always the case... but we Frogs have luck, or perhaps it is our Sufi attitude, attracting people with an equal heart.

While the Cartoonist is organizing the material gathered in Milan, Melek and Nûr will tell you a few things about the International Furniture Fair -also called "il Salone" or "i Saloni"- that closed its doors yesterday, Sunday, April the 13th.
